Our Story

My name is Jessica Harper, and I am the Founder of Liberation Cat House. Below is a small glimpse into my background and how Liberation came to be.

I was raised on a farm in Northeast Ohio and spent my childhood caring for and loving all sorts of critters, including horses, pot-bellied pigs, goats, llamas, dogs and more cats than I can likely recall. My mother instilled in me a love for all animals and taught me the important value of putting their care and well-being first.

Our farm was known as the place in town to abandon unwanted animals, particularly dogs and cats. As a result, I quickly learned about the joy of saving an animal’s life as well as the heartache of loss when there was simply nothing to be done but comfort and love a sick or injured animal in their final hours. These experiences planted a seed in my heart that would ultimately inspire my dreams.

I moved to Florida for college when I was 18 and quickly realized that I felt incomplete without animals in my life. While seeking a companion animal, I was drawn back to cats because of their independent nature, but I also knew that they offered a bond and unconditional love that rivaled many other creatures.
